MDGG - made with love

more goodies from the fabulous christina of c.k. & gray.
btw, we totes met at mis chris studio (item #1).  c & p were just 6 weeks old.  it was one of our first ventures out of the house (we had mimi's help- tg!) and naturally it was a foul wintery mix.
but i was determined to get the ultimate Christmas gifts for our loved ones.  inside we met sweet christina - who managed to paint their lil tootsies - then made us mugs, a multitude of Christmas ornaments, pictures frames and even a soap dish!  she was a true pro and i remember thinking whoever had her as a babysitter was so lucky. . . flash forward a year later and it was us!  {and i was right about the lucky part.  obvi}

mom's day gift guide: cards & prints

let me just say that without the fabulous christina kelley of c.k. & gray, there would be no gift guide.  she is very patiently showing me the ropes around the adobe creative suite.  look out world!  {ha.}

christina whipped up this adorbs inspiration board while babysitting recently.  i'm not changing a thing including her clevah descriptions (click on them for the links!)

11.) Love!
13.) Amen.

thank you, christina- for everything!
now everyone go to c.k & gray to check out her awesome blog.

i have a severe case on this dreary day.
also my office project is taking on a life of its own so i was feeling uninspired to post today until one of my loyal lil hoot checkers was looking for her pun. . .

it's not a pun but it's awesome. . . and reminds me of you.

available here
do we need to have her for LHH (lil hoot headquarters)?

MDGG- lindsey foley

so i should have warned you that i was going to start posting fab gift guides by some of my fave fashionable mamas today.
i decided it would be fun to do more of a 'wishlist' approach - maybe that will give you some ideas what to put on your list or what to get a stylish mama you love. . .or just something to drool over.

let me just say i could go on and on about all of these gals but i tried to sum them up in a few words.  NOT EASY!

stay tuned for many more goodies. . .

4/20 smiles

so i must admit i've never been a big celebrator of 4-20, my heart belongs to the dirty martini.
but i love that jonathon adler always has a sense of humor. almost everything he does makes me smile.  if anyone has a 4-20 party to attend, consider these hostess gifts.

and this i just think is hilarious.  might need to have it if these terrible twos continue the way they are going. . .
vice jars available at jonathon adler
happy 4-20!

lil hoot headquarters

about to embark on my very first "office" project.
i am over the moon to have an excuse to decorate something.  fun, fun, fun. . . altho this will need to be on a budget, fo' sho' {i foresee a trip to ikea in the near future. . .}
 as much as lil hoot loves operating in the red, let's try and keep CBC happy.  the poor guy already has to put up with a pink feathered wreath on his door.

i adore nicole's office from meohmy blog.
don't you?

stay tuned for some really scary before pics that i'll post at naptime.  i'm half-way thru cleaning out the 3rd floor room we've been using for 'storage' {aka tons of crap}

tina's prayer for our daughters.

you know how i mentioned the peeps i think of often earlier today. {coo-coo birds, pee your pants, and inspiring}
well, i'm always thrilled to hear from my friend miss s. {category 2}
we used to get in trouble together in high school many moons ago.  now we are all grown up with 6 kiddos between us.  i only have two so do the math on that one.  maybe she's a lil category 1, too?  but aren't we all?
she shared this delightful excerpt from tina fey's new book with me yesterday.  i've got to get my paws on it.  i'm currently reading : Ready or Not . . . There We Go!: The REAL Experts' Guide to the Toddler Years with Twins to help me navigate terrible 2 x 2.  but tina, you're up next and i cannot wait!

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is offered, May she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half And stick with Beer.
Guide her, protect her
When crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.
Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels.
What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit.
May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.
Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen. Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.
O Lord, break the Internet forever, That she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.
And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.
And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back.
“My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.
Amen.

thanks, miss s. for the smiles.  then and now.

love me some wreath

so you know how you meet people at different times in your life, and some make such an impact that you think of them time and time again?  this happens to me quite a bit.  some people i think of because they were complete nutbags and i wish i could forget them, some made me laugh so hard i still pee a little looking back, and some are just so damn good at what they do, they inspire me to be better.

i'm sure this next fabulous lady has no clue how inspired i am by her on a daily basis.
she's a florist.  scratch that.  she's THE BEST florist i've certainly ever encountered.
i was lucky enough to work with her on my island weddings.
she now has a perfect lil storefront in mystic, connecticut and a booming biz.  i'm talking about yumiko fletcher of hana floral design.

i popped in to pick up a lovely arrangement for my mum last year and found this most amazing wreath for the girls' room.
{i may have fibbed and said yumiko gifted it to us but really she wasn't even there.  doh!}
i have it on my front door this month though because it's very easter-y.
{well that's my excuse right now but let's play a fun lil game where we see how long CBC let's me get away with a feathered sparkly pink delicious wreath on our door}

okay, so here it is. (forgive my amateur shots but meredith somehow slipped out of my pocket today - damn her!)

oh yes, that's some sparkly goodness you spy. . .

and here's the wreath yumiko exquisitely crafted for my first island wedding.

yup, wedding planning was a cinch when i had this super-hero on speed dial!

can you stand it?

aaaaannnnnd how could i resist sharing ashley's gorge bouquet?  i mean, perfection!
  hop on over to hana floral design's blog for more eye-candy.

and if you ever have the opportunity to visit or use hana floral design, doooooooit!
obvi.

oh and by the way, i know you're not going to believe me but yumiko is as beauteous as her flowers.
